Visitor Rules

As Özel İrmet Hospital, the health and comfort of our patients, companions, and visitors are very important to us.

In order to provide the best possible service to our patients and meet their treatment and care needs without delay, it is essential to comply with our hospital rules.
We sincerely thank you in advance for your sensitivity and cooperation regarding the matters outlined below.

WHEN CAN PATIENT VISITS BE MADE IN OUR HOSPITAL?

General Intensive Care Unit: Monday / Wednesday / Friday at 12:00
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit: Monday / Wednesday / Friday between 13:00 – 14:00

TO WHOM IS INFORMATION ABOUT THE PATIENT’S CONDITION GIVEN?

  • If the patient is conscious and of legal age, information is provided directly to the patient or to a first-degree relative authorized by the patient.
  • If the patient is unconscious, information is provided to a first-degree relative.
  • If the patient is a child, information is given to the parents.
  • No medical information is shared by phone.
  • Except for situations required by law or public health authorities, the patient may request that no information about their health condition be shared with family members or relatives.

HOW SHOULD PATIENT VISITS BE CONDUCTED?

Patient visits must be carried out in accordance with the procedures and principles established by our hospital, without disturbing the peace or comfort of other patients.
For the health of our patients, we kindly ask you to consult our healthcare staff about the visitation policy before visiting a patient.

HOW LONG SHOULD A PATIENT VISIT LAST?

For the patient’s well-being, visitors should limit their stay in the patient’s room.
We kindly ask that each visit does not exceed 10 minutes.

WHO SHOULD NOT VISIT PATIENTS?

  • Persons with fever, cough, sneezing, or phlegm, or those with known infectious diseases
  • Individuals with chronic illnesses
  • Persons susceptible to infections
  • Children under 12 years old, as their immune systems are weaker than adults, should avoid hospital environments unless they are patients themselves

However, in some cases, children’s visits may have a positive impact on the patient’s recovery.
In such cases, visits by the patient’s children or close relatives’ children may be permitted, provided that infection control rules are followed.

UNDER WHAT CONDITIONS CAN PATIENT VISITS BE RESTRICTED?

Patient visits may be restricted under the following circumstances:

  • When the attending physician does not permit visits due to the patient’s medical condition
  • During public outbreaks or epidemics
  • For patients with suppressed immune systems

Please do not insist on visiting under these conditions, as restrictions are for the patient’s safety.

IMPORTANT RULES FOR PATIENT VISITS

  • Visit patients only during official visiting hours determined by our hospital.
  • If you see a warning sign on the patient’s door, consult the nurse before entering the room.
  • Ensure that there are not too many visitors in a patient’s room and that each visit lasts no more than 10 minutes.
  • Respect the privacy of patients and their relatives during your visit.
  • For your own health, avoid touching surfaces, equipment, or items in the patient’s room.
  • Always pay attention to hand hygiene before and after your visit — wash your hands and/or use hand sanitizer.
  • Do not speak loudly during your visit.
  • If the patient is under isolation precautions, follow the instructions provided by the healthcare staff regarding the necessary protective measures.

RULES FOR VISITING INTENSIVE CARE UNITS

  • The most important rule for preventing infections during ICU visits is proper hand hygiene.
  • Gowns, shoe covers, masks, and gloves are personal protective materials and are not required for routine entry into ICUs, standard rooms, or immunosuppressed patients’ rooms.
Improper use of these materials may endanger patient safety.
Therefore, do not hesitate to enter Intensive Care Units without wearing personal protective equipment — this is in accordance with internationally approved practices.
  • The maximum number of visitors allowed in ICUs is one person. Please do not insist on additional visitors.
  • For your safety and that of other patients, do not touch any other patients or patient care equipment during your visit.
  • Please remember that ICUs are not single-patient units; other patients are being treated in the same area.
  • If visiting conditions are not suitable for any patient, the ICU team may delay entry even during visiting hours. Please be patient and wait for staff instructions.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING, AND WE WISH YOUR PATIENT A SPEEDY RECOVERY.
